Netflix’s Internal Cancel Culture is Toxic and Will Become its Own Downfall

Netflix has an internal cancel culture apparently. TV Shows and I.P.s go to die at Netflix now. Sure the company pushes out some really great content from time to time, but very few shows have satisfying conclusions if any at all. Viewers are becoming afraid to commit to T.V. Shows for fear of quick and swift cancellation which has been the company’s m.o. for quite some time.

What’s even worse is that they’re vague about the reasons behind cancellations as if the viewers, the ones pouring money into them, do not deserve their respect or time.

They don’t allow sufficient time to pass for a show to gain roots with its viewers as if they’re in some race to gobble up as many properties as possible without care for a long-term commitment. Almost like a child who gets a great toy, uses it for a few moments then quickly discards it in favor of a new one. The cycle keeps repeating itself.

Unless Netflix stops this internal cancel culture behaviour the company will lose out on new subscribers and its current subscribers to competitors who simply follow through with projects to a satisfactory end and not leave the viewers on constant cliffhangers with no closure. Too many viewers are expressing their disappointment for this ruthless cancellations and are becoming wary of committing to a T.V. Show produced by Netflix and quite a number of them are showing their dissatisfaction by cancelling their subscriptions.

Will Netflix learn before its too late? Doesn’t seems so at the moment, since less than a month after the release of Jupiter’s Legacy, they’ve already cancelled it.

Basically Netflix treats T.V. shows like a farmer expecting ducks to lay golden eggs. If a duck doesn’t produce a golden egg quickly, they’ll blast its head off.

The company was once promising and showing signs of producing quality, diverse content. However their lack of commitment feels like that ex who keeps bringing new gifts to reconcile and when you open back up to them, they start back with their sh*t all over again.

Here’s a quick list of many shows that barely made it past Season 1 and those that made it to Season 3 miraculously, ended abruptly without closure.
